Life & Career Milestones

My path in life has been direct

  • 1.

    Grew up loving the theatre.

  • 2.

    Did an apprenticeship in High School.

  • 3.

    Majored in Theatre in undergrad.

  • 4.

    Discovered my passion was in directing.

  • 5.

    Did a one year directing internship at Milwaukee Rep Theatre after graduating.

  • 6.

    Then moved to Chicago and freelanced as a director.

  • 7.

    Then hit a wall, so went to Carnegie Mellon to get my MFA.

  • 8.

    Moved to NYC, then fell in love & moved to L.A., got married, got great jobs and live happily...

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Society in general:

    You should consider being a lawyer since I am so good in front of people. Or would constantly ask, "so theatre, what are you gonna do with that?"

  • How I responded:

    I stuck to what I love. I also had a lot of support from friends and loved ones. And made sure the work I did was exciting and powerful. I definitely felt frustrated, but didn't really see any other options. I just changed tactics from time to time.
